Scope, Safety, Confidentiality, and Practice Guidelines

  • Cannabis-assisted psychotherapy is offered within licensed clinical practice and in alignment with current Minnesota regulations.

Preparation and integration services do not involve the provision of substances.

I do not supply, sell, or source cannabis. Clients are responsible for obtaining their own medicine and complying with applicable local laws.

If you have questions regarding scope or legality, we can review them during consultation.

  • No.

Medicine work is always optional and offered only when clinically appropriate.

Many clients complete a Portal without a medicine session and experience meaningful transformation through somatic psychotherapy, breathwork, and creative process alone.

  • A Portal may be a good fit if:

    • You have prior therapy experience and feel ready for focused depth

    • You are psychologically stable and not in acute crisis

    • You value preparation and integration as much as the experience itself

    • You are willing to engage in a structured, time-bound therapeutic arc

This work is not appropriate for individuals experiencing acute psychiatric instability or seeking rapid, unintegrated experiences.

All clients complete a thorough screening and assessment process prior to beginning.

  • Cannabis interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system and is generally well-tolerated when used responsibly and within appropriate parameters.

However, it is not suitable for everyone.

Cannabis-assisted sessions are not recommended for individuals with:

    • Active psychosis

    • Untreated bipolar disorder involving mania

    • Significant substance misuse patterns

    • Certain medical conditions requiring physician oversight

Medical concerns should be discussed with your personal physician.

Clinical decisions are guided by safety, readiness, and long-term wellbeing.

  • Context matters.

Recreational or unstructured use can feel very different from therapeutic, titrated use within a regulated container.

If you have concerns or prior negative experiences, we will explore them carefully before making any decisions. There is never pressure to proceed.

  • My role is regulated, relational containment.

I do not direct your experience. I support your nervous system as it moves through what arises.

    This may include:

    • Tracking pacing and physiological cues

    • Offering grounding or co-regulation if intensity increases

    • Supporting emotional processing without intrusion

    • Helping you remain embodied rather than dissociated

The work remains yours. The container exists to support your safety and integration.

  • Yes.

I offer preparation and integration support for individuals participating in independent journeys, retreat settings, or clinic-based experiences.

My role in these cases is psychological preparation and post-experience integration — not facilitation of the medicine itself.

  • As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), I am legally and ethically bound to protect your confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and Minnesota law.

All information shared in sessions — written, verbal, or experiential — is treated as confidential.

Confidential information may only be disclosed under the following circumstances:

    • With your written authorization

    • When required by law (such as court order)

    • When there is imminent risk of serious harm to you or others

    • When there is suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult

Confidentiality policies are reviewed in detail during intake. You are welcome to discuss any concerns at any time.

  • Clients participating in cannabis-assisted sessions must arrange transportation and may not drive until the following day.

Full scheduling, cancellation, and billing policies are reviewed during intake.

  • Standard Fee
My fee is $200 per 60-minute psychotherapy session.

While individual sessions are available, most clients choose to work within a defined Portal — a structured, time-bound arc of preparation and integration designed for depth and continuity.

Reduced per-session rates are available for clients who commit to a multi-session Portal. We’ll determine the structure that best supports your goals during consultation.

A limited number of sliding scale spots are available to support increased access.

    Insurance

Inner Roadtrip is an out-of-network provider.

I do not bill insurance directly. However, many clients receive partial reimbursement if their plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits.

Upon request, I provide a SuperBill — a detailed receipt including diagnosis and service codes — which you may submit to your insurance provider.

If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, I recommend contacting your insurance company in advance to confirm:

    • Mental health coverage

    • Reimbursement percentage

    • Deductible requirements

    Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected cost of services under the No Surprises Act.

You may request an estimate at any time before or during treatment.

  • This is an important and valid question.

Cannabis can be used in ways that reinforce avoidance, numbing, or habitual coping. In those contexts, dependency patterns can develop — particularly when use is frequent, unstructured, or disconnected from awareness.

    Cannabis-assisted psychotherapy is fundamentally different.

    Sessions are:

    • Clinically screened

    • Intentionally dosed

    • Time-bound

    • Embedded within preparation and integration

    • Focused on embodiment rather than escape

The goal is not to numb or dissociate. It is to increase present-moment awareness of sensation, emotion, and memory — often in ways that reduce avoidance rather than reinforce it.

Part of the assessment process includes reviewing your history with substances and your current relationship to cannabis. If there are indicators of active misuse or high dependency risk, we will address that directly and determine whether cannabis-assisted work is appropriate — or whether another therapeutic path would better support your long-term wellbeing.

The aim is empowerment, self-trust, and sustainable integration — not reliance on the medicine.

Psychedelic and cannabis-assisted work carries inherent risks. Preparation, screening, and integration reduce — but do not eliminate — those risks. Clinical discernment guides all decisions.
